AO U14, U16, U20 Indoor Championships #4
STL captured this year's Club title/banner for the U20 (Junior) category for the 2020 indoor season. What makes this truly remarkable is that we did it with only 2 juniors and the rest were youth U18 age athletes competing against the Juniors. Definitely an achievement!
The competition at the AO U14/16/20 championships in TO this past weekend, marked the conclusion of the 2020 indoor season. Our athletes performed once again on a whole other level, bringing home medals (10 in total - 2G, 3S, 3B), breaking club records and PB'ing along the way.
- Hallee Knelsen once again had another amazing weekend capturing 3 Silver medals in the 400m (57.70), 800m (2:10.26) and 1500m (3:37.95) all of them new PB's and new Club records (NCR)
- Michael Roth continued improving his times in the 400m (50.01) & 200m (22.44) while capturing the Silver and Bronze medal in those events respectively. He added to his medals with a Gold as a team member in the Sprint Medley relay
- Tayah DeSousa had another great day in the long Jump on Saturday by improving her PB and her own CR 5.59m and winning the Gold medal in the process. On Sunday she captured the Bronze medal in the 60m Hurdles with a new PB and NCR (8.83). She also had new PB in the 60m with a time of 7.95
- Mason Basson improved he personal best in both the 800m (1:58.53) placing 4th with a NCR and 1500m (4:11.93) 11th. Mason was the anchor for the Sprint medley relay team running the 800m portion of the event
- Harrison Belanger had a massive personal best in the 800m breaking his previous mark by whole 3 seconds (2:00.33)
- Dylen Belanger improved 2 of his PB's in the 60m (7.55) and the 400m (54.07). Dylen was the lead off runner on the gold medal winning relay team
- Bailey Couch placed 5th in the men's U20 shot put (12.07m) and 5th. in the 60m Hurdles (8.57). Bailey was also a member of the relay team, running in the second leg
- Claireese Coffey improved her PB in Triple jump, jumping over 10m for first time indoors (10.07m)
- Justin Cole had also a huge PB in the 1500m by a 5 second improvement of (4:36.01)
- Taiya Freeman competing for a first time at this championships had a NPB in the LJ (4.21m)
In the U16 category:
- Fox Gray had a Bronze medal performance in the 300m with NPB & a NCR (38.21) and 2 more pb' and NCR in the 60m (7.53) 7th and 200m (24.51) 7th.
- Lynsey Last improved her PB in 300m by 3 seconds (46.91) and the 200m with a time of (29.02)

Guelph Last Chance Meet
STL athletes continue to shine at the all comers meet in Guelph this weekend. With 9 new PB's and 4 new club records, we only have one meet left to cap off a great indoor season.
- Michael Roth: 1st in the 300m open (35.00) NPB & NCR ‐ Ranked #1 in the country in the U20 category
- Hallee Knelsen: 1st in the 600m (1:34.04) NPB & NCR ‐ Ranked #1 in the country in the U18 category

AO U18 and Open Championships #3
Our group of 12 athletes performed very well again over the weekend in Toronto. Our athletes collected a total of 10 medals (4 golds, 4 Silver, and 2 Bronze) in various events. Many new personal bests and new Club records were set.
- Hallee Knelsen, had 2 gold individual medals in the 800m with a very respectful time of 2:10.90 and in the 1500m 4:38.29 both PB's and NCR
- Tayah DeSousa, gold in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.73 and silver medal in the Long Jump with a new PB and improving her own CR with a jump of 5.44m. Tayah also had a NPB and NCR in the 60m clocking at 7.96 and placing 7th
- Gold medal in the Sprint Medley Relay by our U18 boys of Dylen Belanger, Vince Moore, Harrison Belanger and Mason Basson, with a NCR of 3:49.80
- AJ Stanat, had a silver medal in Weight throw (18.54m) and a bronze in the Shot Put (14.28m) with a new personal best
- Mason Basson captured the silver medal in the 800m with a time of 1:59.14 marking a new PB and a new CR. He was also placed 5th in the 1500m with a time of 4:13.41 also a NPB and NCR
- A Silver medal for our U18 girls team in the Sprint Medley Relay. The team of Tayah DeSousa, Kyra Vellinga, Claire Craig and Hallee Knelsen
- Michael Roth had a Bronze medal in the Open Men's 400m with a NPB and NCR time of 50.67 and placed 4th. in the 200m with a time of 22.69, also a NPB and NCR
- New PB for Bailey Couch in the Open Men's 400m (53.07)
- Dylen Belanger, placed 6th In the U18 boys 60m Hurdles with a NPB and NCR of 8.55. He also had a PB in the 400m with a time of 54.35
- New PB for Kyra Vellinga in the U18 girls 400m with a time of 1:01.62 placing her at the 7th spot
- Harrison Belanger placed 8th in the U18 boys 800m with a new PB of 2:03.21
- Vincent Moore had a couple PB's in the 800m and 1500m with a 2:05.98 and 4:25.88 respectively
- Claire Craig improved her 1500m and 3000m PB with a 5:20.74 and 11:44.79
- Justin Cole improved his 3000m PB with a time of 10:15.13
It is worth mentioning that St. Thomas Legion TFC was 2nd in the Team Scores for the Indoor Club title, just 5 points back.

AO Combined Events Championships and Prep Meet #2
More great results from the AO Combined Events Championships and Prep # 2 Meet at York University, with 11 STL athletes competing over the weekend. Our athletes came home with a Gold and Silver medal in the Combined Events, a new Provincial record, 5 new Club records, 1 tied record, and 24 new PB's in various events during the Prep portion of the meet.
- Bailey Couch led the way by winning the Gold medal in the U20 Men's Heptathlon, setting a new Provincial record with 4542 points. Bailey had 5 PB performances during the 2 day competition: 60m (7.33), SP (12.24m), 60mH (8.45), PV (3.40m) and 1000m (2:56.40). Bailey's achievement now ranks him #1 Nationally in the U20 Heptathlon and #6 in the 60mH
- Tayah DeSousa also reached the podium with a Silver medal in the U18 Girl's Pentathlon, scoring 3210 points and breaking her own previous Club record. Tayah had 2 PB's during the competition with an exceptional time in the 60mH (8.72), which also set a new Club record, and an equally impressive PB in the 800m (2:36.05). Tayah is currently ranked #2 in the U18 Pentathlon and #2 in the 60mH
- Hallee Knelsen had another head turning meet, competing in 3 events during the Prep #2 portion of the weekend. She placed 1st in the 1500m (4:43.58), and then 1½ hours later ran a 400m race for the first time ever. She amazed everyone with a remarkable time a 57.97", breaking a 14 year old Club record. The next day, she won the 800m, setting yet another PB and a NCR (2:12.58). At this point Hallee is ranked #1 Nationally in the 400 & 800m and #2 in the 1500m.
- Mason Basson improved his PB time in the 1500m (4:15.91), also had a PB in the 400m (53.78) and placed 3rd in the 800m (1:59"). Mason is ranked #4 Nationally in the 800m
- AJ Stanat also improved his Weight throw PB (13.02m) placing 2nd, and placed 1st SP (13.59m), ranking him #6 Nationally in both events.
- Dylen Belanger had 4 PB's over the weekend in 60m (7.58), 60mH (8.69) tying the Club record, 200m (23.99) and 400m (54.45). Dylen is Ranked #10 Nationally in 60mH
- Harrison Belanger PB'd by over 4 seconds in the 1500m (4:19.07) and a new PB in the 800m (2:04.51)
- Vince Moore ran for 3 PB's in the 1500m (4:32.29), 400m (56.77) and 800m (2:06.75)
- Justin Cole also achieved 2 PB's in the 1500m (4:42.20) and 3000m (10:17.22)
- Kyra Vellinga also improved her 400m PB time (1:02.35) and ran 27.64 in the 200m
- Emma Westbrook placed 7th in the U16 girls LJ(4.17m) and PB'd in the 200m U16 (29.05)

AO Relay Championships and Prep Meet #1
Great way to start our new competitive Indoor season over the weekend in TO. We had 17 athletes competing over the weekend at York University TRAC Centre.
We had 2 Gold medals in the 4 x 200m and 4 x 400m Relay for the U20 Men category both new Club record times, plus a Bronze medal in the 4 x 800m U18 Male category.
Our athletes had 26 new personal bests (NPB) collectively over the two days of competition and 9 new Club records (NCR):
- Hallee Knelsen: 1st over all in the 800m and 1500m both New PB's and new Club records
- Michael Roth: First in the 400m by opening up with the exact time he ran last year in this event (51.57), and he was 5th over all in 200m
- Mason Basson: Placed 2nd over all in the 800m (NPB & NCR) and 5th in the 1500m
- Bailey Couch: 3 Personal bests in the Shot Put, 60m Hurdles and High Jump
- Harrison Belanger: 2 NPB's in the 800m and 1500m respectively placing 5th and 8th over all
- Vincent Moore: 2 NBP's at the same events by placing 7th and 14th over all
- Dylen Belanger: 3rd in the 60m Hurdles U18 category with NPB and he was 8th in the 400m also with a NPB
- Kyra Vellinga: Had a new personal best in the 400m placing 7th over all in that event
- Tayah DeSousa: A first place finish in the Long Jump (NPB &NCR) and 2nd place placing in the 60m Hurdles also a NPB
- Claireese Coffey: She had 2 NPB's in the 60m and Long Jump
- Claire Craig: a NPB in the 3000m
- Justin Cole: 2 NPB's in the 1500m and 3000m
- Fox Gray: A PB in the 60m
- Emma Zwicker: 2 PB's in the 60m and 200m
- Ethan Zwicker: 3 PB's in the 60m, 200m and 300m
- Camryn Roth: NPB in the 400m
- Lynsey Last: Competing for a first time in T&F posting some promising results in the 60m and 200m and been a part of the 4 x200m relay team.
